Dave Robley Receives Transportation Alliance President’s Award

Dave Robley, Douglas County Engineer, was honored for his work as a strong champion of transportation improvements in the state by the Minnesota Transportation Alliance at the group’s Annual Meeting held on November 10, 2008 in Minneapolis.

Robley was presented with the Alliance President’s Award by Doug Zila of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49, who is serving as the 2008 Alliance President. The award recognizes Robley for his dedication to the Alliance and hard work on transportation issues that improve the lives of Minnesotans.

Robley has had a varied career in county engineering. He worked his way up through the ranks, starting as an engineering technician in Becker County in 1984, and worked at Dakota County from 1985 through 1990.  In 1990, Mr. Robley assumed the duties of County Engineer in Swift County and was the County Engineer in Lyon County from 1992 to 1995.  He assumed his current position as Douglas County Engineer in May of 1995.

Mr. Robley is a graduate of North Dakota State University where he completed his BS degree in 1983.  Robley is married and lives with his family in Alexandria.  He is an avid hunter and is active in several engineering associations including MCEA, NACE, MSES, and MSPE.  He is the current president of the Minnesota County Engineers Association.

The Alliance held its 115th Annual Membership Meeting this year with close to 150 participants.

The Minnesota Transportation Alliance is a statewide, nonprofit organization comprised of members representing local governments, businesses, labor, and the transportation industry.  The Alliance has worked since 1893 to ensure a safe and effective statewide transportation system for Minnesota, one that integrates all modes of transportation and enhances the state’s economic development.
