Bio:
Darin Mielke is the Public Works Director and County Engineer for Sibley County, Minnesota with responsibility for the overall management of Sibley County Public Works, which includes an annual budget of $9 million for a county highway maintenance, construction and county parks program. He provides professional engineering leadership to the county board of commissioners, implements short and long range agency goals and administers county policies and procedures to meet adopted performance targets and budgets. He has broad experience in developing and orchestrating diverse project teams with creative win-win solutions, which was evident when he was the project manager of the 2009 Sibley County Comprehensive Plan, a successful first for the county. Prior to joining Sibley County Public Works, Darin was a Senior Engineer for SRF Consulting Group, Inc., a Minneapolis, Minnesota based transportation consultant, where he worked on a wide range of complex and successful transportation projects. Among one of his more significant projects, Darin served as a Senior Engineer on the $600 million St. Croix River Crossing project in Stillwater, Minnesota; providing preliminary engineering design for the environmental impact statement. Darin holds a Bachelor of Science of Civil Engineering from University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and a Bachelor of Science of Land Surveying & Mapping Science from St. Cloud State University. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in Minnesota and a land surveyor in training (LSIT) in Minnesota. He is an active member of the Minnesota County Engineers Association (MCEA), the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE/MnSPE), the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS/MSPS) and the Minnesota Project Management Institute (PMI/PMI-MN). He is a member of a number of other transportation organizations and groups and has also served as a volunteer public member of the City of Arlington, Minnesota, Planning and Zoning Commission.
