Salary Range: $70,075- $95, 888/annuallyAnticipated Hiring Range: $70,075-$75, 000/annually
Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Monday -Friday. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.
Responsibilities: Responsible for performing professional engineering duties, designing traffic controls (signal, signing and striping) and road projects, preparing construction documents, managing contracts, conducting traffic studies, determining system signal timing plans, reviewing traffic impacts for proposed developments and providing traffic engineering expertise for studies, projects and operations. This position supervises traffic section employees and coordinates consultants as needed to meet departmental goals.
Requirements: Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Must be registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota. Four years of highway design or traffic engineering experience which included experience in a lead worker capacity required.
Desirable Experience beyond the minimum requirements:
1.) Previous supervisory experience beyond the minimum requirement.
2.) Previous experience directing and supervising staff in meeting goals and objectives.
3.) Previous experience applying knowledge and experience to specific traffic situations and problems.
4.) Previous experience in preparing traffic studies.
5.) Previous experience in preparing and monitoring a budget.
6.) Previous experience with and knowledge of traffic signal operations.
Selection Technique: The selection technique for this classification will consist of a rating of your training and experience from the required application materials submitted. The top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
