Houston County (pop. 19,890) is seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Supervisor. This position will aid the Engineer in overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of the county highway system and help carry out all functions associated with 263 miles of roads and 175 bridges within a 558 sq. mile area.Education and Experience: Two- or four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or other Engineering related discipline, and at least two years of progressively responsible experience related to roadway design and construction OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license.
Plus Factors which will be considered when determining candidates to be interviewed include: experience related to roadway planning, design and construction; personal computer experience; budgeting experience; contract administration experience; supervisory experience; experience conducting public meetings; and computer aided drafting (CAD) experience. Registration as a "Professional Engineer" is not required.
2009 salary up to $53,000, depending on qualifications. This position is eligible for overtime and also includes paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; a retirement program; and paid health insurance and life insurance.
