2007 County Engineer of the Year - Gary Danielson

County Engineers Honor Danielson Gary Danielson, P.E., Kandiyohi County Engineer, is the 2007 County Engineer of the Year, as awarded by the Minnesota County Engineers Association (MCEA), at their 63rd Annual Conference Awards Banquet held January 22nd, 2008. 

Mr. Danielson is a 1971 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BS in Civil Engineering. and has over thirty years experience in engineering which includes Gary’s first job in engineering after graduation which was with MN/DOT as a traffic engineer in the Willmar office.  In 1981, he became Assistant City Engineer in Willmar for one year before his appointment as Kandiyohi County Engineer in 1982.  In 1996, the county named him Public Works Director.  In this capacity Gary oversees 42 employees 422 miles of state aid highways and 519 miles of county roads.  He directed the construction of the $34 million Green Lake sanitary sewer and water district improvement project, and also directs the operation of the municipal water and sewer system that serves New London/Spicer and an area around Green Lake

Mr. Danielson makes his home on a acreage near Sibley State Park with his wife Lynette where they have raised five sons Nathan, Eric, Joel, Jedd and Michael.  Gary is a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Willmar where he has served as an Elder and Adult Sunday School Teacher and volunteers at the Community Christian School.
