MCEA PRESIDENT

CALENDAR OF DUTIES

As Soon As Possible After Installation

  1. Preside over Executive Committee immediately after Annual Meeting.
  2. Appoint standing committees and task forces; select the chair and membership of each as deemed necessary.
  3. Appoint Annual Conference Committee members (they select their own chairperson per bylaws).
  4. Establish goals to be strived for in the next year.

General

  1. Delegate responsibilities to committee chair and be ex-officio member of each committee.
  2. Appoint additional task forces or committees as needed or as directed by the Executive Committee, appoint replacement committee members, as needed, during year due to retirements, etc.
  3. Preside over Executive Committee meetings and Annual Meeting.
  4. Keep track of committee activities, giving them encouragement and impetus.
  5. Represent the Association as Chief Officer in various state, national, and special transportation activities.
  6. Serve as member of AMC Board of Directors; attend AMC Agricultural/Transportation Policy Committee meetings providing another voice is needed.
  7. Set up meetings as needed for MCEA Executive Committees; work with Secretary to establish and distribute agendas.
  8. Serve as spokesperson for the Association or delegate that responsibility as appropriate.
  9. Convey a welcome to new MCEA members.

Quarterly Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate with Mn/DOT State Aid Engineer the development of agenda for quarterly meeting with Mn/DOT Commissioner and senior staff; serve as co-chair of this meeting.

One – Two Months Prior To Annual Conference

  1. Assist Conference Committee with details of Annual Conference.
  2. Send to retiring engineers (names obtained from Historian) invitations to Conference Banquet; make meal and lodging arrangements for them.
  3. Send invitations to Iowa County Engineers Association President, and NACE Representatives to our Annual Conference; coordinate their meal and lodging arrangements with Conference Chair.
  4. Make arrangements for New Engineers Reception at Annual Conference.
  5. Develop agendas for Executive Committee meeting prior to Conference and for Annual Meeting.
  6. Provide input to MCEA Treasurer and other officers in development of next year’s proposed budget.
  7. Appoint MCEA representative to AMC Annual Conference Planning Committee.

During Annual Conference

  1. Participate, as needed, in program of Conference Banquet (e.g. presenting any special awards).
  2. Deliver President’s message during opening session of conference.
  3. Preside at Annual Meeting.
