County Engineers Elect Fischer

 

Douglas Fischer, P.E., Anoka County Engineer, is the newly elected Treasurer of the Minnesota County Engineers Association (MCEA).  Doug was elected at the 63rd Annual Conference January 25th, 2008.  Doug has served on the MCEA Board of Directors and as a member of the County Screening Board as well as several Association committees. Doug is a graduate of Iowa State University and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota.  Prior to being appointed County Engineer in Anoka County in 2002, his experience includes that of structural design Engineer with Black& Veatch, Kansas City, Missouri, Howard Needles Tammen & Bergendoff, Cleveland, Ohio and BRW of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Mr. Fischer began his public service career in 1991 as a Design Engineer with the Anoka County Highway Department, and later as Assistant County Engineer.  In 1998 he became the Deputy Director of the Transportation Division for Washington County.

In October of 2001, Mr. Fischer returned to Anoka County as Director of the Highway Department and appointed County Engineer in May 2002..  He has received several merit awards for construction excellence on paving projects while serving Hubbard County.

Mr. Fischer resides in Blaine Minnesota with his wife Karrie, three daughters Kasie, Kennedy and Krystal, his son Kevin, and grandson Landon.  Doug enjoys being with his family, golfing, and fantasy football.
